Info
Ballarat Racecourse is located around 113km west of Melbourne and sits approximately 15km north-west of Ballarat at a site known as Dowling Forest. The Dowling Forest complex spans about 300 hectares in the Miners Rest area and features a 1,900m circuit with a generous 450m home straight.
The venue hosts a broad range of racing, from 1000m sprint events through to demanding 3,400m steeplechases. Beyond race days, Ballarat Racecourse is highly regarded as one of Victoria’s leading training facilities. The grounds are designed with spectators in mind, offering ample open space, while the track itself is notably wide at around 30m.
Each November, Ballarat Racecourse stages its flagship event, the 2200m Ballarat Cup. This race marks the final major feature of the Victorian Spring Racing Carnival and draws strong interest from both locals and visitors.
