Longford Racing Track

Longford Racecourse is located around 20km south of Launceston at the junction of the Macquarie and South Esk rivers. The town is steeped in history dating back to early European settlement and still features homes that were once occupied by some of Australia’s first convicts.

This long history makes Longford Racecourse the oldest racecourse in Australia to continue hosting regular race meetings. The highlight of the racing calendar is the Longford Cup, held on New Year’s Day, which draws spectators and racing fans from across Tasmania.
