Sale Racing Track

Also referred to as Greenwattle Racecourse, Sale Racecourse is widely regarded as one of Victoria’s leading provincial racing venues. Situated around 220km from Melbourne’s CBD, it draws racegoers and trainers from across the state eager to experience some of the Gippsland region’s finest racing.

The track has a triangular layout with a total circumference of 2,040m, and its standout feature is a spacious 400m home straight that provides an excellent finishing run for competitors.

Each year on the final Sunday in October, the Sale Racecourse becomes a major attraction for locals and visitors alike with the running of the Sale Cup, often described as the “jewel in the crown of Gippsland racing”. On the day, racegoers make full use of the impressive Greenwattle facilities, including sponsor and function rooms, fully licensed bars, and the popular members’ lounge positioned right at the winning post, offering owners and trainers prime views as their horses cross the line.
