Info
Townsville Racecourse, also known as Cluden Racecourse, is located in North Queensland, approximately 1,400km north of Brisbane. Regarded as one of Australia’s leading provincial tracks, the venue is set within beautifully maintained gardens that reflect the lush, tropical character of the region.
The track has a circumference of 1,680m and features a 310m home straight. A distinctive aspect of the straight is a gradual drop of around seven metres over the final 100m to the winning post, which can assist horses finishing strongly.
The highlight of the Townsville racing calendar is the annual Townsville Cup, held each July. This major event is accompanied by a wide range of race day activities for both adults and children, and the Townsville Turf Club continues to regard the Cup as the city’s biggest social occasion.
