Wangaratta Racing Track

Wangaratta Racecourse has occupied its current location since 1855 and is situated around a three-hour drive north-east of Melbourne’s CBD. Set within a tranquil rural region celebrated for its outstanding food and wine, the racecourse adds its own sense of elegance to the area through high-quality thoroughbred racing on a premier-style track.

The circuit is known for its distinctive 1,730m layout, featuring a 4.25m descent from the 1000m to the 600m mark, followed by a testing 3m rise up the 350m home straight. This unique profile often separates the strongest finishers from the rest of the field.

The Wangaratta Turf Club conducts around 10 race meetings each year, with the highlight of the calendar being the Wangaratta Cup, held annually in April.
