Info
Warrnambool Racecourse is located at the western end of the Great Ocean Road, on the outskirts of the coastal city of Warrnambool, approximately 260km from Melbourne.
Surrounded by natural hills that offer excellent viewing points for spectators, the racecourse features a spacious layout with a circumference of 2,100m and a 350m home straight. The long, sweeping turns combined with the generous width of the track help produce fair and competitive racing. In addition, extended sections of the course are reserved specifically for the Grand Annual Steeplechase. This iconic event, run during the Warrnambool May Racing Carnival, covers an extraordinary 5.5km and includes 33 jumps, the most of any steeplechase worldwide.
The Warrnambool May Racing Carnival is highly regarded and is widely considered the crown jewel of country racing in Victoria.
