Info
Wellington Racecourse is located near the winding Bell River, close to well-known landmarks such as the Wellington Caves and Lake Burrendong.
The compact 1,440m circuit is set among rolling bushland hills and surrounding mountain ranges. A notable feature of the track is the downhill run from the final turn to the winning post, with the finish line positioned around 400m from the bend, giving runners a strong chance to finish off their race.
The venue is best known for its flagship event, the Wellington Boot, an 1100m race for two-year-olds that draws significant attention each year. The Boot is run as part of a traditional two-day carnival, supported by a range of popular attractions including Fashions on the Field, a yearling raffle, and a lucky gate prize.
