Ethiopia is a 16yo bay gelding from Australia trained by P & H Carey & Walker. He is sired by Helenus out of Shona. With a Group One win and career earnings of $1,295,400, Ethiopia is considered an elite racehorse. On April 14, 2012, at Royal Randwick, he was ridden by Rhys McLeod to his most notable victory, winning the $1,500,000 Australian Derby and defeating Polish Knight (NZ). Ethiopia retired from racing, with his last run on October 31, 2015, at Flemington.
