Home of the Sydney Turf Club, Canterbury Racecourse is NSW's most prominent venue for midweek racing. Located a short 11km, 15 minute drive from Sydney City, Canterbury Racecourse lies opposite the Canterbury Railway Station, making the voyage to the course more than convenient for the public. Canterbury is the only racecourse in NSW to host night racing. Its 1,567m circumference is surrounded by a high-tech floodlight system which lights up the entire course and brings the spectacle of night racing to spectators. The course's long curving corners give major benefit to front runners before they make their way onto the 306m home straight. Canterbury is relatively small compared to a lot of metropolitan courses and this gives spectators a cherished feeling as they experience horse racing only metres from the action.
