A day at the Cessnock Racecourse is described by locals as 'country racing close to the city'. It's location in the beautiful Hunter Region is just a two-hour drive north of Sydney and about 45 minutes from Newcastle.The course has a mostly curved circumference of 1800m which proves to be friendly to fast finishers as they make their way on to the 300m home straight which is mostly downhill.The Cessnock Racecourse is owned by the Newcastle Jockey Club and is known also as the 'Wine Country Race Club'.
