Happy Valley racecourse is the original home of racing in Hong Kong. Prior to the development of Sha Tin in 1978, racing in the colony was conducted at the famous Happy Valley course. Now, Sha Tin hosts the majority of the major races, and all the G1 races to be held in the colony. However, Happy Valley continues to run races on its famous Wednesday night races and in early December holds the Longines Hong Kong International Jockeys’ Championship. The racecourse also boasts the Hong Kong Jockey Club Archive and Museum, along with a cinema.
