The Longford Racecourse is located 20kms south of Launceston where the Macquarie River meets the South Esk River. The town is rich in history from the first settlers and still boasts some houses that were inhabited by some of the first convicts. The early habitation of the surrounding areas makes the Longford Racecourse the oldest racecourse in Australia that still hosts regular race meetings.
