The Sunshine Coast Turf Club prides itself on having one of the best horse racing facilities in the country. TheSunshine Coast Racecourseis found 89kms north of Brisbane and is set in one of Australia's most popular tourist destinations. Famous for its golden beaches and laid back atmosphere, the Sunshine Coast doesn't disappoint when it comes to putting on a great days racing.The cushion track's synthetic racing surface was the first to be used in Queensland and was put in place for use when the main grass track needed repairs or a chance to regrow its grass. Being on the inside of the main grass track, the cushion track is only 18m wide.Its maximum distance is 1760m with a long home straight that is 400m long. Night meetings are also held at the course, made possible by just under 1000 lights positioned right around the track to bring a whole new element of excitement to the races.
