The Townsville Racecourse, also known as 'Cluden Racecourse' is found in North Queensland some 1400kms north of Brisbane. One of Australia's premier provincial circuits, the Townsville Racecourse is set upon finely manicured garden lands that are synonymous with the tropical regions of North Queensland.The course proper has a circumference of 1680m and a home straight 310m long. The straight has a friendly characteristic for horses in that the final 100m to the winning post drops 7 metres.The biggest day on the Townsville racing calendar occurs in July of each year when the annual Townsville Cup is staged along with a multitude of race day activities which cater for adults and children alike.
